Maureen Butler
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT
As Vistra’s Executive Vice President, Maureen Butler leads key elements of the organization’s strategy, administration, and operations. A foundational member of the company since 2007, she has been instrumental in building Vistra’s administrative infrastructure and providing strategic guidance to enhance service delivery for government and private-sector clients.
Maureen brings a strong background in public-sector financial management, having served as a U.S. Army finance officer before moving into accounting roles within both the private sector and nonprofit community. She also has extensive academic experience, spending over a decade as an accounting professor at the University of South Florida and The University of Tampa—where she earned tenure—and continues to serve as an adjunct professor in nonprofit financial management. Her research has been published in leading journals including the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, the Journal of Business Research, and the Journal of Accountancy.
Maureen holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Arkansas–Fayetteville. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Florida and Virginia and actively contributes to community and economic development through service on the Hillsborough Education Foundation Board and the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council.
